Help Shape the Future of Parsons Road Park

The Department of Parks is inviting members of the public to take part in an important consultation aimed at shaping the future of Parsons Road Park, a valued community green space in Pembroke. [forum.gov.bm]

A public survey is now live on the Government of Bermuda’s citizen engagement platform, forum.gov.bm, offering residents, park users, and the wider community an opportunity to share their views on how the park can be improved to better serve current and future needs. [forum.gov.bm]

A Park with Community and Environmental Significance

Parsons Road Park currently features a playground, basketball court, and open seating and recreation areas, making it an important space for families, youth, and local residents. The park is also closely connected to surrounding natural assets, including the Pembroke Canal and Pembroke Marsh, which support wetlands, wildlife habitats, and native plant communities. [forum.gov.bm]

Because of this unique setting, the consultation places strong emphasis on balancing recreation, safety, accessibility, and environmental sustainability, ensuring that future improvements respect both community use and ecological value. [forum.gov.bm]

What the Consultation Covers

The survey invites participants to reflect on how they currently use Parsons Road Park and what they value most about it. Respondents are also encouraged to identify challenges and suggest improvements that could make the park more welcoming, inclusive, and functional for everyone. [forum.gov.bm]

Topics explored in the survey include:

  • Walking paths and circulation

  • Playground and sports areas

  • Picnic and seating spaces

  • Outdoor fitness equipment

  • Public art and gathering areas

  • Community gardens and native planting

  • Educational and environmental signage

  • Safety, lighting, accessibility, and maintenance [forum.gov.bm]

Public input will play a key role in informing future planning and design recommendations for the park, helping ensure it reflects the identity and needs of the surrounding community while protecting its natural features. [forum.gov.bm]

Ministerial Perspective

The Minister of Public Works and Environment, the Hon. Jaché Adams, JP, MP, has highlighted the importance of community involvement in the process, noting that Parsons Road Park is an important shared space and that public feedback will help guide thoughtful, well‑considered improvements. How to Get Involved

The online survey takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and responses are anonymous unless participants choose to provide contact details for future project updates or engagement opportunities. [forum.gov.bm]

Members of the public are encouraged to visit forum.gov.bm and complete the Parsons Road Park survey by 30 June. Community feedback will directly contribute to shaping the long‑term vision for this important public green space. [forum.gov.bm]
