Celebrating Community, Curiosity, and Conservation at the Bermuda Agricultural Show
Last month’s Bermuda Agricultural Show proved to be a wonderful three‑day celebration of nature, learning, and community engagement, with visitors of all ages coming together to explore Bermuda’s rich agricultural and environmental heritage.
One of the most popular attractions for younger visitors was the interactive “How’s Your Sense of Smell?” quiz. Children enthusiastically took part, testing their noses while learning more about plants, herbs, and the natural world around them. Their excitement was clear, especially for the lucky participants who received one of the 100 “Grow Your Own” kits, inspiring them to continue their botanical journey at home.
Beyond the children’s activities, the show provided valuable opportunities for meaningful conversations with adults about the importance of conservation, horticulture, and environmental stewardship in Bermuda. We were delighted to engage with visitors on the role of the Bermuda Botanical Society (BBS), welcoming several new members over the course of the event. Discussions also highlighted the shared missions of the Bermuda Garden Club Society (BGSC) and the Audubon Society, reinforcing the strength of collaboration among local environmental organisations.
The atmosphere throughout the show was vibrant and welcoming, reflecting a shared passion for plants, sustainability, and community learning. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and enthusiasm of the many volunteers who generously gave their time and energy to support activities, engage visitors, and ensure the event ran smoothly.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, participated, and stopped by to learn, play, and connect. Events like the Bermuda Agricultural Show remind us how powerful hands‑on experiences and conversations can be in inspiring the next generation of gardeners, conservationists, and environmental advocates.
We look forward to continuing this momentum and welcoming the community to future events that celebrate Bermuda’s natural beauty and biodiversity.
